Rollitex Wheelchair Jeans and Trousers for Wheelchair Users available on DisabledGear.com (Full Size)We were proud to bring these premium brand quality range of Rollitex wheelchair jeans to
the UK. Now we even more chuffed to bits that, although we are no longer trading these ourselves, we didn't just cut and run. Instead we worked closely with Rollitex and the result is the launch of their fabulous new website Rollitex.co.uk (click on the link to find a dazzling and extensive range of wheelchair jeans and other clothing, incorporating absolutely contemporary and mainstream looks for wheelchair users.)

Fed up with not being able to find trousers that were long enough in the leg or that looked like something we were never going to wear out, we knew it was good news when we met this manufacturer - one of the owners is a tetraplegic so knows the issues and has paid attention to detail when it came to answering his own clothing frustrations.

We know you'll like these trousers, because we do. All legs are cut long and properly finished. This length allows the trouser to sit naturally on the shoe while the wearer is sat in their wheelchair. Where it is too long, a local Alterations Service, such as at a dry cleaners, can cut and finish to the required length.

What makes Wheelchair Jeans different to normal jeans?

Good question, and we're pleased you asked. Ask most wheelchair users what bugs the hell out of them about their jeans, and these are the things that Rollitex have solved:

  • Grade 5 coated metal zip - 2 sizes larger than normal - facilitates unaided use for people with restricted hand function
  • An eyelet in the zip allows addition of a ring & further enables own use by tetraplegics
  • A longer zip makes access to catheterize easier while seated
  • Tougher & better designed fastener that does not easily break or tear the fabric when being assisted on transfers or given a pressure lift from the waistband
  • Front belt loops closer to the fastener enable tetraplegics to fasten their own jeans, and maximise limited hand movement
  • Strong nylon threads fasten belt loops to the jeans so they do not come off or tear when used as transfer aids
  • Cut for wheelchair use: longer leg & longer at the back for a better look and greater comfort. A better fit stops trousers falling down when you transfer
  • NO pockets, studs or poppers at the back minimises risk of skin and pressure issues
  • Seams sown side to side at the back - not one on another - reduce risk of skin and pressure issues
  • Mainstream fashion, wheelchair jeans

Try a pair. Like so many customers, you'll most likely be back for more.

Alterations

We are asked about Alterations Services. The nature of disability is varied. We know that once some customers have found jeans to fit comfortably around the waist and hips, they take them to be tweaked, including:

  • shortening the leg length, and
  • inserting velcro or zips into the bottom of the legs which are barely noticeable but allow better access to leg bags or aid dressing and undressing.
